St. John’s was recognized as Naples first Green Church at a City Council meeting on June 5, 2013, during Green Business Recognition Month.  This was the culmination of a 3 year process that included the installation of St. John’s first of many rain gardens, new landscaping of native Florida plants, purchasing energy efficient air conditioning units and LED lighting, as well as reduced water consumption and recycling.  The results have been improved environmental impact, dramatically reduced electrical costs and a beautiful campus that is very eco friendly. The blessings of faithful stewardship of our environment have continued, with numerous local and regional groups touring the St. John’s campus and being inspired to create their first rain garden.  National recognition has also encouraged others to be good stewards of God’s earthly gifts.
