Trust in the Lord

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)             My grandmother always prayed for me. Toto (pronounced Tutu) prayed silently at every meal. My family seemed embarrassed by Toto’s praying, but even then, I revered her. When I was six, the woman I was named after died in her sleep. My mother was crying when she told me,…

Open the Door

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears me and opens the door, I will come in and fellowship with that person, and they with me.” Revelation 3:20 (NIV)             My father was very smart and a good provider. He could always find something a little better than what we had. I would always see him praying every morning before he went to work. He came home when I was four years old and told…

Embraced by a Mighty Wind

“Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.” Acts2:2 He showed up in a way that assured me of His tender love for me in a way as never before. As we look to next year, I believe we will go down a…

Through the years, a number of parishioners have designated, by a note on their contribution checks, that no portion of their gift should be included in the funds that are paid by…

Joe led this class with his mastery of word and divine intervention. There were 22 people from 11 different churches and denominations that attended the three days. The classes covered 26 miracles of Jesus from the Bible. Each of these healings were read through and discussed because each time…

Year-Round Sunday School For All!

Summer will soon be here. Some will head up north. Some will take a vacation or two to see new sights or connect with distant family. But many of us will spend most of the summer right here in beautiful Naples–enjoying less traffic, terrific restaurant deals, and the same great opportunities to worship, fellowship and serve at St. John’s. We traditionally offer adult co-ed classes throughout the summer. [You’ll want to watch for announcements about this summer’s exciting offerings!] BUT…
