St John’s Shoppe Fashion Show 2019

By the time you received this issue of Parish Life our Fashion Show on March 23, 2019, for St, John’s Shoppe will be over. This year’s Fashion Show was only accomplished by the hard work from our board members, St. John’s Shoppe volunteers and all of the church members that pitched in to make it a success as well as nonmembers that return every year to help. As we look to next year, I believe we will go down a…

April 2019 From the Treasurer

Each year, a portion (10%) each Episcopal Church’s revenues are paid to the Diocese to provide for their expenses over the course of the year. Of that amount, a fraction (15%} of the apportionment is paid, by the Diocese, to Episcopal Church USA, commonly referred to as ECUSA. Through the years, a number of parishioners have designated, by a note on their contribution checks, that no portion of their gift should be included in the funds that are paid by…

The classes covered 26 miracles of Jesus from the Bible. Each of these healings were read through and discussed because each time…

Year-Round Sunday School For All!

Summer will soon be here. Some will head up north. Some will take a vacation or two to see new sights or connect with distant family. But many of us will spend most of the summer right here in beautiful Naples–enjoying less traffic, terrific restaurant deals, and the same great opportunities to worship, fellowship and serve at St. John’s. We traditionally offer adult co-ed classes throughout the summer. [You’ll want to watch for announcements about this summer’s exciting offerings!] BUT…

40 Days of Decrease

One of the blessings of my position is people are constantly giving me books to read or review. I don’t remember the last time I was at the library because of the stack I’m already reading. I’m so grateful for this, and one of the recent books suggested to me by Senior Warden Donna Beecher is “40 Days of Decrease” by Alicia Britt Chole. The subtitle reads a different kind of hunger and fast that triggers the heart. This devotional…
