God’s Promises

God’s Promises

Rev. Joseph Maiocco Rector

The resurrection of Jesus is a God Promise, something so grand and miraculous only God can fulfill. Old Testament prophets and Jesus foretold it. The Bible is full of promises God has made to his people and there is a book we give to St. John’s visitors on weekends entitled “199 Promises of God.”

• “And the prayer of faith shall save the sick and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has
committed sins, they shall be forgiven”
(James 5:15)
• “The Lord is gracious and full of compassion; slow to anger and of great mercy” (Ps.145:8)
• “The Lord is my light and salvation; whom
shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Ps.27:1)
• “I am the vine and you are the branches: he
that abides in me, and I in him, the same
brings forth much fruit; for without me you
can do nothing” (Jn.15:15)
• “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct
your paths” (Prv.3:5-6)
• “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for
some have entertained angels unaware”

• “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” (Ps.119:105)
• “For I’m persuaded that neither death, nor
life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God , which is in Christ Jesus our Lord”
• “Those that trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint” (ls.40:31}
• “Don’t worry about anything, but in every
thing, through prayer and petition with
thanksgiving, let your requests be made
known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”
